Wind and weather offer export opportunity for Polycrub

While gale force wind and marine industry waste might seem like unlikely ingredients in a recipe for international trade success, but they’ve both helped take one Shetland-based social enterprise to a growing global market.

This case study from Polycrub highlights how following an initial grant from the Climate Challenge Fund and a desire to grow their own food in Scotland’s most northerly archipelago has led this organisation to expand its operation and product sales to other parts of the globe facing challenging weather conditions.

Having made sales of their wind resistant Polycrub to the Falklands, the team behind this storm-resistant tunnel are now looking at further expansion to Canada, Ireland and Scandanavia with the support of Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
